A fire at a WALKERSTON news agency kept crews busy yesterday. The blaze started just before 6 with shops at the Creek Street complex quickly evacuated. Five crews attended the scene with the fire contained to the news agency. Surrounding shops suffered some internal smoke damage but luckily nobody was injured. Investigations into the cause of the blaze will get underway today

A shed has been ransacked in Marian with property stolen. Vehicle tracks were seen in the area with entry thought to have been gained to a shed in the early hours of Saturday morning. The shed doors were found wide open at the Kuttabul Mount Jukes Road property with two motorbikes, tools and electronics missing. If you noticed anything call POLICE LINK

 

New speed limit signs have been installed along Eimeo Road. Member for Mackay Julieanne Gilbert said the limit between Carl Court and Blacks Beach Road roundabout has been changed to seventy following a speed limit review. It came after concerns from the community over this notorious stretch of road

 

Sea Shepherd's flagship vessel the M/Y STEVE IRWIN is setting sail for MACKAY in defence of the Great Barrier Reef. The organisation is hoping to rally a war cry against the ADANI coal mine. Sea Shepherd Managing Director Jeff Hansen is eager to make land in MACKAY 

Running and raising money for charity was the aim of the game for mates from St Anne's Primary School. Six mates hit the 5 kilometre track over the weekend to take out the title. Ryan John, Jackson and Tyler Roelofs, Joshua and Lane Mifsud, and Campbell Farrington are all keen runners and were keen for the challenge
