As the warmer weather approaches and we slip into Learn2Swim Week all eight and a half thousand of Mackay's pool and spa owners are being urged to take some time out for safety. KIDSAFE one of the groups wanting us to check out fences. Former Olympian Matt Welsh says there's a number of ways they can become unsafe.

Parents who have questions about Schoolies are being invited to sit down and talk with POLICE. The Crime Prevention Unit in Mackay is hosting a schoolies Parents information night tomorrow at the PCYC in Beaconsfeild. Joined by members of the Whitsundays Regional Council Schoolies planning group and a Red Frogs representative they aim to answer those frightening questions burning you up. It starts at 6:30 and is open to everyone. 

Cricket fans have been treated in Mackay over the weekend. The Cricket Australia Under 17s Cup got underway at Harrup Park and MAGPIES C-C FIELDS. It kicks off a bumper pre-season of large-scale events for the region. There’s seven scheduled in before 2019

 

Mackay has all eyes on the next big thing in Rugby League. Rayden Burns has been selected to play in the Mal Meninga Under 18s for a second year. Making his debut for the Cutters this year he's already made some appearances in the Under 20s matches. He was also a key player in Mackay Brothers 42-18 grand final win over Souths Sharks this season
