Marlborough-Sarina road is on track to re-open to the public. Transport and Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey said the milestone will be welcome news for residents following the long-term closure. It's predicted it will open under traffic control in October as the rebuild of the cyclone-damaged road moves ahead. More than a hundred and thirty thousand tonnes of slip material had to be removed before works could even commence

 

Twenty Indigenous primary students are headed to C-Q-U to take part in a BROLGA program. Based at the Ooralea campus the courses aims to boost aspirations, identify study pathways and celebrate Indigenous culture. The day includes a yarning circle, campus tour, a student engagement session and hands on activities at the campus biodeisel facility

 

Mackay and The Whitsundays shine at the Queensland Training Awards. From the 11 CENTRAL QUEENSLAND regional winners four hailed from the region. Taking out the Apprentice of the year, vocational student of the year, Equity VET student of the year and Medium employer of the year categories

 

AS the winter blues settle in Comedy hits MACKAY to warm us up. Globally recognised Melbournite Dave Thornton is heading to town to make you laugh your butt off in the G&S Engineering Comedy Club at the MECC. Comedian Dave Thornton says he's not so quietly confident audiences will be laughing within the hour

Another round of mixed results for MACKAY Basketball teams. Both the men and ladies took to the road south to take on USC RIP CITY and Sunshine Coast Phoenix over the weekend. While the Meteors lost to U-S-C they managed to take down Sunshine Coast to hold on to their top of the ladder spot

 

Slade Point and Whitsundays Rugby Union Clubs face off in a frantic match over the weekend. With finals in sight the sides came out of the gates firing with Whitsudnays drawing the first blood thanks to a pushover try off the back of a dominant scrum. Whitsundays managed to pull away in the final three minutes to seal victory
