A WHITSUNDAYS family is in mourning after a fatal crash near Townsville. 25 year old Dylan Donohue was killed in a car crash at Alligator Creek on Sunday. He had previously lived in Mackay and had been living in Ayr for the past few years. He was the rear passenger of a Landcruiser which lost control at high speed on the Bruce Highway.Police are investigating but at this stage no charges have been laid

 

Chaos reigns at Carlo Drive Transfer Station when a mysterious shape was seen in the rubbish. Emergency Services were called and the station was closed around 2 p-m Saturday due to reports of a dead body in one of the skips. Police investigated and found the shape was actually just a Christmas tree wrapped in plastic and tied with rope. They've congratulated the people who reported the incident saying it did look very suspicious and the witnesses did the right thing

 

CALLS for more croc management -after reports of a sighting in MACKAY'S Northern Beaches. Whitsundays MP Jason Costigan says crocs are popping up in places we haven't seen before. Locals are asked to attend a hearing on August 29.

 

Councillors are making their way to St Helens today for a council in community day. Residents will be able to have a chat with them and senior management at the Beach Esplanade Reserve between 1:30 and 2:30 this afternoon. They'll then head to Bloomsbury Soldier's Memorial Hall in Dougherty's Road

Our Wests Tigers A Grade side is headed into the pre-finals following another win.The team flew into an untouchable standing when they took down Mackay Magpies 22-16 Sunday.

 

Mackay Road Runners host their annual trail running Club Championship events. The weather conditions were perfect as around 40 runners ran the 5 and 9 kay tracks. Junior running superstar Rachel Silvestri continued her dominance taking out the junior 5 kilometre race
