Police are on the hunt for TWO men believed to be involved in the robbery of a gaming room in MACKAY. The incident happened last TUESDAY night on WOOD STREET around 9 p-m. Detective Inspector Brendan Smith says the robbery was highly dangerous.


MACKAY POLICE believe a spate of  break ins could be attributed to escaped prisoner LEVI JAMES BROWN. On the run for two weeks after escaping from the ROCKHAMPTON showgrounds POLICE believe he's still in MACKAY being supported by someone in the community. Authorities say recent crimes at PAGET businesses are unusual for the area and they are investigating thoroughly.

It's been a chilly start for MACKAY SHOW WEEK. With the Bureau reporting the coldest temp in the region was recorded at MACKAY AIRPORT with a brisk three degrees at 5am. Amateur weather chasers are also reporting touches of frost around the region for the next few days.

MACKAY residents are being encouraged to join a FREE 16 week fitness program. The competition is encouraging people to have a look at their diet and to take 10 thousand steps a day. Mackay Hospital and Health Services Chief Executive Jo Whitehead says they need to change the stats. Register at 10 thousand steps dot org dot au. 

The next Queensland State of Origin side has been named and MACKAY is set to see a local boy play. KALYN PONGA will make his debut on Sunday for Round 2 of the 20-18 series. Queensland Coach Kevin Walters says it's the start of a long career.
