MACKAY council have released their budget.. Mayor Greg Williamson says he's pleased with it. There's a MASSIVE focus on delivering capital works programs. Mr Williamson says they're investing in improving the regions roads. There's been a record hundred and twenty nine million dollars set aside for infrastructure projects with 224 set to be funded

 

Mackay Regional Council are reminding people reusable doesn’t mean recyclable. The Material Recovery Facility has been inundated with reusable shopping bags and the recycling facility can't accept them. This includes hessian bags, heavy plastic bags, bin liners and bio-degradables. The bags get caught in the recycling machinery and cause lengthy and costly delays to ratepayers. Mackay is going to the dogs. Council has allocated two hundred thousand dollars to build three new dog parks in the region. They'll be housed in Sarina, at Queens Park and Camilleri Street Park. Mayor Greg Williamson said its something residents have wanted for a long time, they've just needed to find the funds

 

It's time to hear the Whitsunday voices. The Youth Literature Festival kicked off yesterday and runs until tomorrow. The largest and only literature festival of its kind provides an opportunity for students teachers and residents in MACKAY to experience a literary and cultural event not usually seen outside of the cities. It's on at the Whitsunday Anglican School and all information is available online 

MACKAY Meteors are looking to hold onto their top of the ladder spot again as they head into the weekend. They're poised to take on fourth ranked U-S-C Rip City tomorrow from 8:30 to the South. Before heading to Maroochydore to take on twelfth placed Sunshine Coast Phoenix Saturday at 7:30

 

Touch football in MACKAY is about to get a whole lot faster. In a concept developed by Mackay touch payer Katie Geiger Fast 4 will shorten the format and speed up the game. The modified game will see 16 teams fight it out in a round robin format for cash prizes
