Mackay Police are eager to close the book on a forty-six year old cold case. Upping the reward for information relating to the murder of 14 year old Marilyn Wallman in 1972. Yesterday they announced information leading to the identification of the person responsible will increase from $250,000 to $500,000. A bone fragment was identified as hers in 2001 with a full homicide cold case review starting in 2015.

Mackay is drawing Statewide attention. The Council was awarded the Queensland Water Program Innovation Award under 250,000 end users award. It's for the MiSewer Program which monitors sewer networks to avoid overflow issues. The program will now represent the State at the Australian Water Awards

 

Mackay parents have had the chance to level up on their parenting skills. Triple P (Positive Parenting Program) seminars are currently underway in the region Triple P International trainer and Psychologist Dr. Michael Herd says the seminars are equipping parents with valuable skills. One of the seminars is on at Collinsville State School today.

 

It's time for the Greater Whitsundays Farmers Market once more. Kicking off this morning at 7 until 11 on River Street. Regional produce will be available to locals at Bluewater Quay giving you a chance to support farmers and gain access to fresh seasonal wares

 

Sam Betten has taken out the Airlie Beach Triathlon for the ninth time. Running a close race with 2016 70.3 World Champ Tim Reed and multiple ironman and 70.3 winner Tim Berkel. He pulled ahead in the final legs to take out his ninth title

 

Mackay Netball has hosted the junior grand finals for the 2018 season. First up the 12A Grade had the crowds on the edge of their seats with an extremely tight game. Parents were playing every pass and shot as the Moranbah Red Rockets took on the DAS Dazzlers. It was a win for Moranbah by a hair when the final whistle blew at 31-30
