Police are on the hunt for a woman suspected to be involved in a hit and run in South Mackay last month. A White Suzuki Swift was allegedly seen hitting an unattended car parked on Evan Street around 9am on August 31. Witnesses say it appeared to be a female driving with P plates displayed. She then allegedly drove off without leaving any details. If you have any information call Crimestoppers

 

A cunning thief has allegedly broken into a home while the residents were inside at Cannonvale. One person was in the shower while another watched television in bed around 4pm on August 30 when the thief allegedly came inside. They managed to make off with an IPhone 8 that was in the lounge room. If you have any information call Police Link.

 

Artspace Mackay proudly opens applications for their 2019 Hands On Bursary. This year the Foundation has increased it to four thousand dollars. The bursary aims to support young people pursuing a career in visual and creative arts.

A nail biting final sees Storm named the 20-18 Netball Premiers. They took out the competition when they narrowly beat the Cougars 33-31 at the Mackay Multi-sports stadium. It wasn't looking good for the first time premiers when Cougars fired off five shots in the last quarter closing the gap. But they managed to pull ahead.

Eastern Swans have taken out  the Mackay AFL premiership. The strong game saw them take on North Mackay Saints with the underdog Swans coming out with a narrow 16 point win
