Roadworks have commenced on Mackay Eungella Road. They're set to change road conditions for the remainder of the year.

Mackay Hospitals are welcoming new midwives. Five new midwives will be posted across the region with the State Government hiring a hundred across Queensland. It comes following backlash from residents over the closure of regional maternity services.

Whitsunday Anglican School has been named on The Educator's Innovative Schools list. It’s been recognised for its Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics elective subject which was introduced this year. Mackay City earn their second shot at Proserpine in the grand final. The side crushed Kuttabul in the preliminary final over the weekend in a nail biting match. The extremely physical game saw a tight 28-26 win. Kuttabul held a lead with just over five minutes left in the first half but a breakaway from City closed the gap and sent them finals bound

 

Norths Devils have won both the A-grade men’s and women's hockey tittles. The women led the way when the pulled together a tight win over Arsenals while the men rounded it out with a 2 nil defeat of Souths Sharks. The first A grade double header in three years has definitely led to some sore heads this morning
