A 13 year old boy has died and two others were seriously injured yesterday at Carmila when a car veered off the Bruce Highway and landed upside down in a creek bed. The Mackay-based RACQ CQ rescue helicopter was tasked around 10am to the scene with a doctor and Critical Care Paramedic on board. All three occupants were taken to the Mackay Base hospital. The Bruce Highway was re-opened just after 4pm yesterday.

 

A Beaconsfield house has been gutted by fire over the weekend. Multiple emergency services were called to the Broomdykes drive address just after 3pm on Saturday- working to put out the blaze and direct traffic.

 

Thousands of jobs could be up for grabs after the commencement of the final mine rehabilitation program. Environment Minister Steven Miles says that mines must hand the land back in a safe condition.
