Aurizon coal executive to address the Resource Industry Network in Mackay. The Industry briefing on March 2nd will be hosted at Ocean International. They will outline Aurizon's activities in the region and discuss future developments.

Pioneer State High School may be seen as the underdogs but they're showing Mackay what's what. The Andergrove based school may be considered the most socio-economically disadvantaged in the region. However just over 20 per cent of their OP eligible students achieved an OP score between 1 and 5 last year.

The Whitsundays are shining tonight at the QANTAS Australian Tourism Awards. The event in Perth will host five local tourism operators who are in the running for national recognition. Ocean Rafting, The Abell Point Marina, BIG4 Adventure Whitsunday Resort, Cumberland Charter Yachts, and Island Jet Boating have all been nominated.

Local business Smith and Sons Mackay North know how important sports are for kids. That's why they're offering two $150 bursaries to local kids and a $700 one for a local junior sports team.
