ROAD CLOSURES

The following roads are closed due to the wet weather:

Hicks Road, Glenella - closed at Windmill Crossing

Golf Links Road, Beaconsfield - closed at Culvert Crossing

Gorge Road, Finch Hatton - closed at First Crossing

Kowari-Gorge Road, Finch Hatton - closed at various locations

Road closures will be continue to be updated on regularly. Remember to drive to the conditions of the weather and 'if it's flooded, forget it'!

LOCAL NEWS

Police are investigating a serious truck crash at Nebo. Initial information suggests a truck rolled on the Peak downs Highway at Nebo Junction and struck a tree yesterday morning. I happened at around 11:25 and a man in his 70's has been taken to the Mackay Base Hospital. He has serious head and chest injuries.

A flood watch is still current for the Proserpine and Pioneer river catchments. A number of roads are already closed due to flooding including Marian Eton Road at Sandy Creek The Bureau has also issued a Strong Wind Warning for the Mackay Coast and says we can expect more heavy rainfall today.

The ParentsNext Program will roll out in Mackay next July. $260M in funding is being injecting into to provide training and support to assist parents return to work

$4M in funding is being delivered to improve water quality around for the reef around the Whitsundays. It’s coming from the Palaszczuk government for for on-ground projects in the region. Great Barrier Reef Minister Steven Miles says they'll soon start a tendering process soon

LOCAL SPORT

The Mackay Cutters will go head to head with the Sunshine Coast Falcons weekend. Coach Steve Sheppard says he was happy with last week’s defensive effort despite the loss

A few games are being cancelled this weekend due to the weather. Mackay Softball's batting clinics are being postponed and the Junior Fixtures at Mackay Regional Football Zone have been called off.
