A man is recovering after being allegedly stabbed in his own home in South Mackay. The 38 year old reportedly walked to a public phone on Evans Street and called triple zero following the incident yesterday. Police allege it happened just after 2 and the people present at the victim's unit fled when he was stabbed in the upper left shoulder. There was an alleged altercation between the victim and another man and ambo's took the victim to the Mackay Base Hospital.

The State Government's back to work program is there for the taking but Mackay's lagging behind. 68 Mackay and Whitsunday's employers have accessed the scheme according to data from the treasures office. It's almost half of Wide Bay’s number where over 120 employers have taken it up. Those who apply for the program get a $20,000 payment if they hire an unemployed youth between 15 and 24 from December one to February 28.

Wildlife officers are investigating a crocodile sighting near Campwin Beach. Some locals say they saw a croc moving against the current about 50 meters from the shore yesterday morning.

The Adani Supplier Roadshow is doing the rounds and stopping into Mackay It'll be here on the 24th but tickets are almost gone. A small fresh batch of tickets have just been released. Director of the Bowen Basin Mining Club Jodie Currie says it's all about education.
