Crocodile was spotted at Harbour Beach yesterday

Mackay residents are calling on the Council to install swimming enclosures after a 2 and a half metre long crocodile was spotted at Harbour Beach yesterday afternoon- forcing the closure of the beach.

 

Police charged a 22-year-old man following investigations into a serious assault on a 72 year old woman that occurred in a unit at South Mackay on October 23. The local man appeared in Mackay Magistrates Court  charged with grievous bodily harm

 

A new map has been released that combines all the rules Whitsundays water users need to know about. Within our area there are special rules for spearfishing to protect the reef and certain species. Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority general manager Simon Banks says the community had some concerns

 

 

The Insurance Council of Australia has hit back at claims they haven't done enough to support Whitsundays residents post Cyclone Debbie. Dawson MP George Christensen made claims earlier this week in Parliament. ICA General Manager of Communications Campbell Fuller says more than 80 per cent of claims have been closed  up from 74 per cent a month ago. It's about 10 per cent ahead of typical catastrophes.
