A local woman has lost tens of thousands of dollars in an elaborate scam. Scammers impersonated two of her closest friends and contacted her on a direct messaging app convincing her to get involved in an upcoming lottery. After pouring money into the event she was later told they had won, but to collect she needed to pay admin fees. Police are asking the community to be on high alert and always double check who you are talking to when handing over large sums of money.

The tenth annual Blokart Regatta is coming to Mackay. About 40 competitors will come to town from across the STATE to compete in production or performance race categories. Racing will get underway Saturday and Sunday depending on wind, Event organisers encourage spectators to head down with a chair to relax under the gazebos
