The public viewing platform at the Woakwine Cutting will be officially re-opened this Friday.

Mayor Peter Gandolfi will officiate at the ceremony and says he looks forward to the popular site again being open to its many visitors.

The platform at the historic Cutting has been closed to the public since November 2015, following concerns for public safety. At the time, an inspection of the platform highlighted a number of structural concerns, forcing Council to temporarily close the attraction to the public until the platform could be replaced.

Council has completed this project with the assistance Kangaroo Inn Area and Beachport Primary School’s STEM students, Tonkin Consulting and local engineering firm Murimbum Engineering.

Generous donations from Mrs Rosemary McCourt, the McCourt family and Cavpower have also enabled the viewing platform to be redesigned, constructed and installed to ensure the Cutting, a historic feat of engineering, will again open to the public.
