A 29-year-old Millicent driver has been arrested and charged with a string of offenses.
Limestone Coast Police were conducting drug and alcohol testing on Jubilee Highway West - when the driver of a black Holden sedan slowed down and then sped off.
Officers pursued for a short time, but terminated the chase for safety reasons.
Police located the black Holden in Snuggery which had stolen number plates attached and all other identifying marks removed - this vehicle has been seized for examination.
Police also found ammunition in another vehicle connected to the arrested man.
The driver has been charged with failing to stop a vehicle when directed, drive dangerously to escape police pursuit, driving with unassigned number plates, aggravated assault on a police officer, resisting police, two counts of unlawful possession, refusing to answer questions as to owner of a vehicle and possessing ammunition without a firearms licence.
