A man has been arrested for numerous offences, including assault police after he was stopped driving at Mount Gambier yesterday morning.

Just before midday, Saturday 22 April, police from the Limestone Coast Highway Patrol stopped a car travelling on Dohle Road for a breath test.


Police spoke to the driver, a 22-year-old man, who refused to submit to an alcotest and refused to state his name and address when requested.

The man was arrested, however during the arrest he resisted and bit the officer on the arm causing injuries. The police officer was taken to Mount Gambier Hospital for treatment.

The man was charged with drive unlicensed, drive unregistered, uninsured, refuse name and address, refuse alco test, resist arrest and aggravated assault. He was also issued with a 12 month loss of licence and his car impounded.
