It’s almost show time!

It’s almost show time in the Blue Lake City and it looks like a great weekend for the Mount Gambier Spring show with so many free activities to check out.


#1 George the farmer will be entertaining the kids at 1pm on Saturday 21st October. He will be sharing stories, singing, dancing and sharing giveaways.

#2 Hold on tight and ride the mechanical bull. You can ride for free as many times as your like!

#3 Enjoy demonstrations on feeding baby animals at 10:30am and 2:00pm daily in the Elders Ag Learning Centre.

#4 See the Howling Husky’s demo team perform their sled pull and enjoy some meet and greets with the gorgeous creatures.

# 5 Spin a yarn with the spinning and weaving demonstrations in the main show hall.

#6 Why not stop and smell the roses. Enjoy the showcase of freshly cut flowers in the horticulture hall opened from 12:30-7pm on Friday and 9:00am-7pm on Saturday.

#7 Admire the skills of the axe men and women at the log chop on Saturday 21st October starting at 11am.

#8 See cattle handling at its best during the beef cattle judging from 9am daily.

#9 Why not ‘mooove’ to the dairy shed and watch the judging of the cows and heifers.Judging commences 9am Saturday 21st October.

#10 Take the kids for a round of mini golf by Top Putt Games

#11 find a feathered friend in the poultry and budgerigar pavilion.

#12 No bull! The led steer competition for schools is held Thursday prior to the show starting at 10am.

#13 Heat things up and watch Walter Whip performing his amazing whip cracking skills. He will perform several times daily plus run workshops for you to join in and learn his craft.

#14 See cars and tractors on show in the industry grand parade on Saturday at 1pm on the Main Arena.

#15 Gaze up at the fireworks on Saturday night at 9pm on the main arena.

#16 Watch the speed shear competition as shearers fight it out for the title, starting at 3pm Saturday.

#17 Take some time out to walk through the photography exhibit in Hall 1.

#18 Enjoy the art of Highland Dancing from 1pm-4pm on Saturday in the Rothall Pavilion.

#19 Have fun and learn about agriculture by visiting the Elders Ag Learning Centre. Interactive displays of animals that you can both see and touch.

#20 Baa, Ram, Ewe….check out the sheep on display in the sheep pavilion and why not watch them being judged from 9:30am on Friday.

#21 Stroll through the trade displays by local businesses located around the grounds and in the main show hall.

#22 Rock with local bands Train of Nought, Bittersweet Fall, Awoken & Rehashed starting from 6pm on Saturday Night on the City Council Stage

#23 Dance the afternoon away with the Lake City Rock n Rollers from 3pm Saturday on the City Council Stage

#24 Mayfair singers will perform with various choirs from 10am Saturday on the City Council Stage

#25 Take a step back in time and admire the vintage engines and tractors on display.

#26 Eljay will perform freestyle stunts. You can check him out during one of his 4 shows per day.
