Female Elephant Seal hung out at Port Mac Yesterday

Port MacDonnell received an unexpected visitor yesterday morning with a fully grown female elephant seal showing up on a local's doorstep.

Port MacDonnell residents Kirby and Mark Carrison discovered the seal when their dogs were barking loudly.

The seal was not injured, with locals amazed to see the seal so close.

With the help of Natural Resources South East staff, the seal made her way back to the ocean after two hours.

Grant District Council community ranger Dale Miller attempted to guide the creature back to the ocean with a stick and a wheelie bin.
