Local cat and dog owners are being reminded to have their pets microchipped, as the June 30th deadline grows closer.
From July 1st 2018, Limestone Coast Pet Owners will be able to access an online portal for all of their pet registration, microchipping and breeding information needs.
The website launch follows changes to the Dog and Cat Management Act, with the new site to be available 24-7.
The portal will be replacing the 68 individual Council registers across the State.
The new system will allow locals to instantly update pet rego and microchip details if owners move house or change phone numbers.
While a new desexing requirement affects dogs and cats born after July 1st 2018, breeding or working dogs may be exempt from this law.
All dogs and cats must be microchipped by this date.
Mount Gambier City Council CEO Mark McShane says it's all for our pet's benefit.
