AC.Care are calling for locals to get behind Homelessness Week 2018, the campaign raising awareness of those experiencing homelessness.

The 2018 theme "ending homelessness together" urges locals to call on leaders to make the changes needed to end homelessness in our community.

Locally, the main presenting issues for homelessness from July 1st 2017 - 30th June 2018 was housing crisis (50%), inadequate or inappropriate dwelling conditions (20%) and transition from custodial arrangements (11%).

AC.Care's Manager of Homelessness and Aboriginal Services Trish Spark says there's plenty of ways to get involved.

Ruby's Reunification Centre have joined forces with Uniting Communities, organising a walk in Mount Gambier.

Locals who attend are asked to consider bringing a pair of shoes to donate for someone in need.

The Pride In Your Stride Walk will finish at AC.Care's Community Centre with a free community breakfast.

Attendees can head to Vansittart Park's Corner Gates at 7.45am for an 8am start on Friday, August 10th.
