Thanks to everyone in Kalgoorlie-Boulder and surrounding towns for your patience after Saturday’s wild weather, which brought down many powerlines.
This has been one of the most complex restorations for Western Power in the area. Our crews have worked tirelessly to restore power to about 13,000 homes in the past two days, with just over 3,000 more to repair.
We will get more people on this evening, but if you don’t have power after 8pm tonight, you should prepare for another night without electricity. Single premises with no connection wire are likely to be without power until Wednesday.
These are the current remaining affected areas and our BEST estimate of restoration times:
- Kalgoorlie – Majority of customers should be back on tonight. The remainder are fuse trip jobs that will be restored tomorrow
- Lamington – Tonight
- Piccadilly – Majority Tonight
- South Kalgoorlie – Majority Tonight
- West Lamington – Majority Tonight
- Adeline – Tonight
- Boulder – Tonight
- South Boulder – Tomorrow
- Victoria Heights – Tomorrow
- Kambalda – Half tonight, including the shopping centre.
- Kambalda West – Tonight
- Kambalda East – Tomorrow
We have also had some customers enquire about vouchers and compensation. Western Power's depot in Kalgoorlie is operational only and does not have any of these forms.
Customers who are eligible for the 12 hour extended $80 outages payment from the State Government can access those forms from our website. This payment is not designed to compensate for all losses. It is an acknowledgement of the inconvenience of long outages. You should contact your insurer to inquire about further damages claims.
If you see a fallen powerline, please stay away and make the safe call to Western Power on 13 13 51.
