University of Tasmania Chancellor the Hon. Michael Field AC said it was an honour to recognise the state’s top academic talent and help them achieve their educational aims.

“These are our most prestigious academic scholarships,” Chancellor Field said. “They are awarded only to those students who have demonstrated exceptional academic achievement and Anni and James clearly fit the bill.

“We look forward to following their journey over the next several years and wish them every success in their studies.”

“The University of Tasmania is a world class institution and we want our state’s smartest to stay here and study with us – it’s good for the University and it’s good for Tasmania,” Chancellor Field said.

The students will join the University's Group of 50 - high achieving scholarship recipients who will have the opportunity to meet senior University leaders, mix with students across faculties and learn from guest speakers. The students will meet several times a year.
