A 75-year-old Frankston man's died following a Gilder crash in Benalla.

The crash occurred on Saturday in a paddock on Murray Road, shortly before 2pm.

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are yet to be established.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.

On Saturday night, the accused is alleged to have stolen a number of items from a Jerilderie business on Mahonga Street.

Police say he'd scaled a fence, loading the items into a business vehicle, before ramming it through secure fencing.

He's alleged to have offloaded the items at an address in Jerilderie before dumping the vehicle.

He was apprehended at a Powell Street address the next day, and taken to the Finley Police Station - where he was charged with numerous theft related offences.
