Family are mourning the loss of 21 year old Shepparton man Haimish Mawson, whose body was found in a Chicago hotel room after attending the Lollapalooza music festival.

Police over in the U.S. have reported hotel staff had been asked to check on Haimish, and discovered him 'unresponsive' on Sunday morning at 10.28 am.

He has been described as having an infectious smile and being a gifted guitar player, with family now arranging with medical examiners to have him brought home.

Police in Deniliquin have discovered 10 kilos of what is believed to be crystallised methamphetamine.

It came during a campervan search on Sunday, with officers stopping the vehicle as it travelled west on the Sturt Highway.

The 42 year old male driver was arrested but later released pending further inquiries

The street value of the drugs is estimated at as much as $5 million.

It’s Homelessness Week, with health professionals and businesses raising awareness in a bid to see less people living in tough conditions.

Homelessness Week 2017 includes a number of initiatives, such as the collection of second hand police boots to distribute to those in need.

Mission Australia CEO Catherine Yeomans says the initiatives really allows businesses and groups to focus on tackling the issue heading into the future.

Local Benalla business Mitchell HealthCare has been named the face of Small Business Victoria,  alongside 8 others.

In celebration, an exhibition is being held in town until the end of August.

Benalla Rural City Mayor Councillor Don Firth says small businesses are the backbone of the Benalla economy, with over 1500 small or micro-businesses in operation.

The Northern Country Women's league has held its inaugural night of nights.

In the first year of the competition Echuca's Jessica Pitts polled an impressive 12 votes to finish second, beaten only by Kyneton's Emily Taylor with 14 votes.

Shepp’s Breanna Davision and Echuca's Kate Dixon also polled strongly.

All attention now turns to the Grand Final to be played out in Bendigo.

The Thunder will host Benalla on Sunday at 2.30pm, played at the Weeroona Oval.
