The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) has announced a mini basketball convention in Echuca from Saturday 22nd – Sunday 23rd September.
Echuca is one of four locations across the globe to be chosen for the convention, along with Morocco, Sri Lanka and Mexico. The announcement has us feeling like...
The convention is a collaboration between FIBA and the International Basketball Foundation (IBF), who plan to make the event an annual occurrence.
The convention will be focused on recruiting, retaining and developing children in the 5 – 12 years age bracket. This will include a coaches clinic, a demonstration 3x3 event, and a Jamboree, all to train up our future b-ball stars.
Turgay Demirel, President of FIBA Europe, is excited for the opportunities that will stem from the convention.
“It is at grassroots level that the foundation is laid for any sport, and we are proud of the commitment shown by our federations towards the development of new talent. I am looking forward to what will be delivered at each convention.”
- Turgay Demirel
Echuca can expect to receive around 100 representatives from FIBA and IBF, including the IBF President Sheikh Saud Ali Al-Thani.
