Surfers Security Getting Beefed Up For Schoolies Week

A number of new safety measures are being rolled out at Surfers Paradise ahead of Schoolies week 2018.

With just over three weeks to go until thousands of graduates flock to the city for the event, organisers were hard at work beefing up security.

Police will patrol the precinct on push-bikes for the first time, after Queensland Ambulance paramedics successfully trialled the idea last year, cycling around to help distressed teenagers.

Safety bollards will be in place along the Esplanade, while a vehicle-monitoring system used during the Commonwealth Games in April will be deployed.
