A former Gold Coast police officer has been spared a conviction after admitting to illegally using the force datatbase to access details about netball star Laura Geitz.

40-year-old Stephen Patrick Wright used the restricted computer 80 times to access details about the former Australian Diamonds captains friends and family.

He pleaded guilty in Southport Magistrates Court on Wednesday and was fined $4000.
