The husband and teenage son of a Helensvale woman have helped save her life, after she collapsed on New Year's Day.

Megan's 14-year-old son, Jonah, dialled 000, while her husband Michael gave her CPR after being given instructions from the emergency operator.

When paramedics arrived they had to shock her nine times and perform 26 minutes of CPR before Megan's heart restarted.

She was taken to hospital in a critical condition where she spent three days in ICU and another two weeks recovering.

Thankfully Megan is now back at home and on the mend.

The Semmler family today met with the QAS staff who helped save Megan's life, also be presented with a Certificate of Appreciation from QAS to acknowledge their part in the life saving chain of events that night.
