Hunt for driver after hit-and-run crash

Police are on the hunt for the driver of a ute, allegedly involved in a hit-and-run crash at Coolangatta.

It is believed the white 4WD ute collided head-on with a Toyota Corolla hatchback at the corner of Marine Parade and Rutledge Street around 8:40pm on Wednesday.

Two 20-year-old women and a man, also 20-years-old, were all taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Two were transported to the Tweed Heads Hospital in a stable condition, while the third was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital with a suspected lower back injury.

Police said the ute didn't stick around at the scene of the crash though.

It was last seen driving south along McLean Street with damage to its bonnet and a missing grill.

Any witnesses to a crash, or anyone who happens to have dash-cam footage of the crash or the ute, are urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or Coolangatta Police on 5589 8444.
