Visitors to the Gold Coast will soon be welcomed by two massive signs spelling out city's the name in lights..
New York design studio LOT-EK has been chosen to install the unique signs on the M1.
They feature nearly 100 modified highway lights and poles, cleverly spaced to spell 'Gold Coast' and 'GC'.
The larger sign, stretching 100m long and 11m high, will be installed in the city's northern gateway, the initials as you cross the border into Queensland.
All up, the project will cost the Gold Coast City Council, and ratepayers, $2 million.
The signs will be put up by the end of the year and Mayor Tom Tate thinks they will "bookend" the city and become iconic to visits and residents.
