Elderly man stabbed in his own home, before offender is bitten by dog

Police want our help to catch a man who's slashed a man with a stanley knife, before stealing a camera and cash from the victim's home near Murwillumbah.
He struck around 1.30pm last Friday.

The 63-year-old victim was attacked when he noticed the offender inside his home in Kyogle Road, Byangum.

The thief was attacked by the victim's dog as he left and may have suffered leg injuries as a result.

He's described as being Caucasian, 35-40 years old, with a slim build, 183cm tall, with long light brown hair and a scruffy beard.

He was wearing a dark cap, jeans, and a dark-coloured T shirt at the time.

The victim has since undergone surgery on his arm at Tweed Heads Hospital.
