A number of residents in Biggera Waters awoke last night to the sounds of an out of control car tearing down their suburban street, as it smashed into several parked cars.
The dramatic scenes unfolded just after 11pm, when a white Nissan Pulsar hit four parked cars on South and East Quay Drives before hitting a fence, a tree and a bridge.
Residents woken up by the noise ran outside and detained the alleged drunk driver until police arrived.
The 22-year-old suffered minor injuries during the rampage and was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment, however was released early this morning.
He's been charged with one count of dangerous driving, drive under the influence of liquor or a drug and fail to remain at scene of crash.
He's due to appear at Southport Magistrates Court on February 22.
