A big day at Carrara Stadium yet again, packed full of athletics events as the Commonwealth Games enter Day 8.
The women’s heptathlon starts today – we’ll see Aussie Alysha Burnett compete in hurdles, high jump, 200m and shot put.
As for the finals, Aussies Angus Armstrong and Kurtis Marschall will line up to compete in the men’s pole vault finals and Luke Mathews, Brad Mathas and Joseph Deng will run in the men’s 800m final.
Later tonight, while we don’t have any Aussies in the race, all eyes will be on the men’s and women’s 200m final. Track royalty, Usain Bolt is set to watch the final – for which he currently holds the world record.
Over to cycling now, husband and wife duo Daniel and Rebecca McConnell will be hoping for gold when they jump on their mountain bikes and compete in the women’s cross country and men’s cross country event respectively.
Down south to Coolangatta, the Aussie’s have a shot at collecting two more gold medals in the beach volleyball. Its Australia vs Canada in both the men’s and women’s gold medal matches.
Elsewhere today there are also Aussies competing in the hockey, rhythmic gymnastics, shooting badminton, diving, lawn bowls, squash, table tennis and wrestling.
