Close call with a stonefish for 11-year-old girl

There's been a second close call with a stonefish on the Gold Coast over the past fortnight.

An 11-year-old was treated by paramedics after stepping on one of the creatures at Tallebudgera Creek on Thursday.

She thankfully escaped being injected with the fish's dangerous venom because it was already dead.

Surf Life Saving Queensland has confirmed it's the second such encounter in the past two weeks, after a 12-year-old girl accidentally touched one with her wrist last week.
