Bystanders stop accused Southport pharmacy robber

A man is due to face court today accused over a dramatic armed robbery attempt at a pharmacy.

Police claim the 47-year-old told staff at the Marine Parade store in Southport he had a gun and threatened them around 8:30pm on Sunday.

He then allegedly ordered them to start filling a bag with medication, and that's when two bystanders stepped in.

The men grabbed the alleged offender and detained him until police arrived.

One of the men broke a knuckle during the scuffle.

The 47-year-old is due to face Southport Magistrates Court today.
