A bad start to the school holidays on our roads

Five people including kids have been hurt in a smash on the Pacific Motorway.

The car travelling northbound hit a guardrail at Helensvale shortly after 6:30 on Friday morning.

Three children and two adults had to be transported to hospital but paramedics said they were all in a stable condition.

The crash cause traffic to back up while the wreckage was cleared.

It should act as a reminder to stay safe on our roads with the winter school holiday's kicking off in Queensland on Friday afternoon..

Police launched their road safety blitz ahead of the holiday.

Operation Cold Snap will be targeting all road rules, but paying a particular focus to drivers on their phones while behind the wheel.

Queensland's road toll stands at 110 for the year, including a fatality at Willowbank earlier on Friday.
