The Transport Accidents Commission (TAC) have released the road trauma stats for 2017 and there's been an interesting finding for Gippsland.
The report revealed the majority of crashes that occur in West Gippsland are due to vehicles leaving their lane.
10 out of 13 fatal accidents that happen in the region were run-off-road crashes with 8 being single crashes on the roadside and 2 resulting from a head-on impact.
State Road Safety Minister Luke Donnellan says this is why the flexible safety barriers are being installed on roads like the Princes Highway.
A timely reminder, to take care on our roads!
