Redevelopment of West Gippsland Arts Centre has reached the final stages, with work set to begin on fitting out the theatre in the coming weeks.

All of the internal concreting is finished, and the fourth level roof is now in place. The fly tower structural steel is also now fitted into position.

Unforeseen works on installing extra fire protection, and modification to the internal stairways has seen the budget blow out by up to $750,000, but Baw Baw Shire Mayor Joe Gauci says that the council is working closely with building engineering to ensure minimal damage to ratepayer's wallets.

The West Gippsland Arts Centre project is on track for completion in August, with handover to occur in September.
