A man is now assisting police with their enquiries following the Pakenham hit-run incident on Friday afternoon.
Police allege a utility travelling along Princes Highway collided with a traffic light at the Cardinia Road intersection just after 3:30pm, which resulted in eight people - seven children - being injured. Some were hospitalised as a result of their injuries.
The driver allegedly fled the scene, leaving his vehicle behind, before police arrived.
A 21 year old Pakenham man was arrested at his home this afternoon.
