There are calls for theĀ Moe Cup full-day public holiday to be scrapped after some local businesses reported that it hurt them more than it helped.

Last Thursday was the first full-day public holiday for Moe Cup since 1998, and although it worked out well for some local businesses, others struggled with penalty rates.

With the public holiday traditionally being a half-day to allow for the region's biggest sale day of the year, Moe Traders Association is calling on Moe businesses to come forward and join the discussion so plans can be made for 2019.
