The Venus Bay Surf Life Saving Club has taken out a national award - being named best in Australia at the National Surf Life Saving Awards in Sydney on Saturday night.
It's the first time the club has won the award after being named Victoria's best club for the past two years running.
President of the club, Craig Watson, told Hit FM News this morning it's a great honour for all the hard work the crew has put in over the past few years. "We were massively surprised! Just to win the Victorian title a few months earlier was enough, and we got there again!"
The honour comes after Venus Bay Surf Life Saving Club revealed it had cut down on rescues by 600%, despite monitoring one of the toughest beaches in Australia.
