New Research Shows Areas Like Gippsland Aren't As Disadvantaged As We Think

The Grattan Institute has revealed Australia's regional areas aren't as disadvantaged as we think when compared to big cities.

The latest research shows that inequality has risen more in places like Melbourne and Sydney than regions like Gippsland, while income growth in both cities and regional areas have kept pace with each other overall.

That said, in Victoria the biggest increases in unemployment over the past 5 years were in outer-suburban areas like Pakenham and Dandenong.
