New Crime Fighting Group To Tackle Victoria's Burglary Rates

A new crime fighting group has been established to reduce burglaries in Victoria. Safety Alliance Victoria will see Victoria Police, RACV, Neighbourhood Watch, Crime Stoppers Victoria and Federation University all joining forces.

RACV has revealed the areas around West Gippsland that are riskier than average for home intrusion and theft; they include postcodes 3981, 3816 and 3956.

Victoria Police Assistant Commissioner Tess Walsh told Hit FM this morning it's a new exciting era in collaborative crime busting. "The police collaborate more closely through genuine partnerships with community, businesses, and other government and non-profit agencies to prevent crime".

According to the latest crime statistics, there were more than 36,000 cases of residential burglary across Victoria between April 2016 and March 2017.
