Optus and Telstra have teamed up with the state government to construct 28 new mobile phone towers around Victoria - 6 of them in the Gippsland region.

The Gippsland locations include Allambee, Cowwarr, Tanjil South and Narracan.

Across the state, the 28 towers will cover around 2,000 square kilometres and connect more than 4000 premises to mobile signal.

The 11 million dollar works are part of the Victorian Mobile Black Spot Project, and construction is expected to begin shortly.
