Man Remanded In Custody Following 30 Hour Attack In Newborough

A 39 year old man has been remanded in custody after allegedly assaulting his partner with a hockey stick. 

Latrobe Valley Magistrates Court heard a woman suffered fractures in her arms, hands, ribs, pelvis and head in the Newborough attack, which allegedly lasted more than 30 hours on the Australia Day long weekend. 

The man has been charged with 5 counts of intentionally causing serious and reckless injury and assault, and is due back in court on Thursday 3rd May.

Meanwhile, the woman is in a stable condition at the Alfred Hospital.
