Latrobe Valley Residents Congratulated On Recycling Efforts Over The Past Year

Gippslanders are being congratulated for their efforts in reducing waste and landfill.

National Recycling Week is underway, and figures show that Latrobe Valley's kerbside recycling efforts over the past twelve-month period was enough to reduce greenhouse gas output by the equivalent of 12 days energy use.

Stephanie Ziersch from Sustainability Victoria told Hit FM News this morning that we're currently recycling around 67% of all waste across the state, but there's always room for improvement. "Putting rubbish in the landfill costs us all money. Recycling is less expensive, creates local jobs, and reduces the impact of climate change."

Ms Ziersch encourages us all to visit our local council's website so we have a better understanding of the services they offer when it comes to recycling.
