The Environment Protection Authority has fined Australia Paper $16,000 after liquid waste leaked onto their property in Maryvale.

Caused by faulty pipes at the facility, the spill caused hundreds of tonnes of odorous waste to leak.

The cleanup took several days to complete, and the waste was disposed of elsewhere on the property.

To prevent another issue of same the kind, the EPA has ordered Australian Paper Maryvale to replace the 50 year old pipeline.
