There are concerns about job security for workers at Australian Paper's Maryvale Mill following a report suggesting the Victorian government will look at banning logging in our native forests by 2029.

The report from News Corp suggests over 3,500 jobs in the timber, pulp and paper industry could be at risk of being lost if the transition plan goes ahead.

Taxpayers would also have to cough up around 500 million dollars for it, which would see government agency VicForests phased out and employees transferred to other industries.
